I know it’s pretty humid and everything right now but I’m already thinking of what I want in my winter wardrobe. I’m thinking about going back go basics as I lack most basic things, for example, a plain vest top. Why don’t I own one plain vest top? As the saying goes you can't have a strong house without a good foundation so these are my 10 basic picks to start off my wardrobe.
- A black leather jacket - I’ve wanted one for absolutely ages but never seem to find the right one - do I want the traditional biker style, studded, fringed, real leather?
Fringed; Asos | Waterfall; River Island
2. Jeans - Jeans are probably the hardest thing for me to buy and I must be the only girl who owns just one blue pair (which are really ill fitting). It’s such a struggle to find jeans that fit on my bum and thighs and I have recently come reasonably close to finding the perfect pair from ASOS. They have lots of stretch in them to accommodate my bum and they sit a little higher on the hips so you're belly doesn't spill all over the place. Thank God.
Both; Asos
3. A skater skirt - Possibly the most flattering shape skirt, I'm looking out for leather look ones in various colours.
River Island
4. Checked shirt - Arguably they can be seen as dated but I really want one. I think they look great layered over t-shirts and dresses and a leather jacket.
Topshop
5. Cream/ black blouse - No explanation needed, simple and goes with everything.
Both; Topshop
6. LBD - An obvious wardrobe staple which I don't have. I like this one because it reminds me of a Victoria Beckham design and I think it'll look cute with flats in the day and heels at night.
Romwe
7. A black maxi skirt - This summer I've become quite fond of my collection of maxi skirts because they're so easy to throw on. Surprisingly, I haven't got a black one yet and the thigh split means I can wear it on a night out and not look nun-like.
River Island
8. Slouchy knit - I’m looking for one of those jumpers you can just chuck on anyday and it goes with everything. Last year I made the mistake of buying about 500 extremely thick, cream knits which made me look like a farmers wife. I will NOT be making that mistake this year.
Green; Nasty Gal | Black; Topshop | Red; Wildfox
9. Pointed nails - Not really an item of clothing but it completes the look.
10. Jeffery Campbell Litas - My beloved ASOS heeled boots are on their way out (RIP) so I need to find some new black boots which I can wear with everything, won't break and which will not make me walk like I have a tail.
I’m also obsessed with studs and western tips lately so will be stocking up on eBay and going crazy!
