Work Experience with The Guardian

Day 1.

Today was my first day in the real world and I got to experience the delights of the London transport system.  How I love the tube, smelly people and people who think it's okay to stand right up your arsehole on the escalator. I've been wondering why does everyone do this weird jog/run/walk everywhere? It's irritating - where is the fire? Slow and steady wins the race.

Anyway my task for the day was to comb through newspapers and find all the fashion articles for the editor. As boring as this may sound I actually enjoyed the chance to go through a newspaper in peace without someone looking over my shoulder at it. However I was cross eyed by the time I left.

Day 2.
This outfit was like going out in a onesie - so comfortable. The trousers were too big though and it made me look like I was trying to smuggle a racoon in my knickers.

I also felt really overdressed as people in the office dressed relatively casual.

Top (actually a dress); eBay | Trousers; ASOS | Belt; ASOS

Day 3.

Knitted bomber; Miss Selfridge | Dress; ASOS | Belt; ASOS | Necklace; a gift

Day 4.

I shipped all the clothing back from a shoot. I basically had to check they were all in the right bags, then address them and ship them off. It was nice to see some of the SS13 things I'd seen in magazines in real life but also torture as I can't afford them or fit into them.

Day 9.

Top; eBay| Skirt; ASOS | Knitted Bomber; Miss Selfridge | Necklace; H&M

Day ? Who knows what day it is now they’re all going into one.

I spent the next couple of days writing credits, requesting prices and sending emails. It gave me a chance to speak to people in PR companies and look at all the infomrmation of Fashion Monitor. But it was horrifiying finding out some of the prices of the clothes. This has confirmed the need for a Sugar Daddy in my life.

Last Day!

My final duties today were to ship things back to PR companies used for a shoot something which I have now mastered. So in conclusion, I have to say I have throughly enjoyed my time at The Guardian, the people were lovely and I felt like I actually worked there at the end of it. An internship is a fundemental part of getting into journalism and now I see why because there is just so much to learn.
